This is my personal website. Here's what it collects when you visit, in plain language.
The short version
- No ads, no tracking cookies, and I never sell your data.
- The site keeps simple visit statistics, and only after you interact with a page.
- Visit records are deleted after 13 months.
- What you enter in the demo apps isn't saved to the site's database.
- Messages to the AI features go to OpenAI or Anthropic to get a reply. This site doesn't keep them.
Visit statistics
The site counts visits with its own small tracker, not Google Analytics or another analytics service. Nothing is recorded until you interact with the page (move the mouse, scroll, tap or press a key), and automated browsers and known bots are skipped. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, nothing is recorded at all. For each page you view, it stores:
- the page (for example /blog), how long you stayed, and the website you came from (just its address, such as google.com, not the full link)
- your device type (desktop, mobile or tablet) and browser family (such as Chrome or Safari), not the full browser details
- your approximate location: country, region and city, with the city's rough coordinates. These come from the location information Vercel, the site's host, adds to each request. Your IP address is never sent to a location service, and if Vercel doesn't provide a location, none is recorded.
- a short anonymous ID that groups the pages of one visit. It's a scrambled (salted hash) mix of your browser details, language setting, a shortened IP address and the date, so it changes every day and your full IP address can't be recovered from it.
Your IP address itself isn't saved with these records. The analytics page is public: it shows today's totals, the most-viewed pages, top countries and a map of approximate, city-level visitor locations.
How long it's kept
Visit records, including the anonymous IDs, locations and referring websites, are deleted automatically after 13 months. Before a day's records go, they're reduced to that day's totals (page views, visitors, pages, countries, device types and referring websites). The totals say nothing about any individual visitor, and they're kept.
Cookies and browser storage
The site doesn't use tracking or advertising cookies. It does store a few things in your browser:
- your light or dark theme choice, in localStorage
- your work in some demos (the code playground, the game's high score, and the Contracts, SignatureFlow and ProjectFlow demos), in localStorage or IndexedDB, so it's still there when you come back. SignatureFlow also caches its pages so they work offline.
- one functional cookie from the Accounting demo, set when you add data, so your changes stay in your own sandbox for up to 24 hours
You can clear any of this at any time in your browser's settings.
Demo apps
Nothing you enter in the demo apps is written to the site's database.
- The code playground, the game, SignatureFlow and ProjectFlow keep everything in your browser.
- Contracts and Accounting keep your changes only in the server's temporary memory, separate from other visitors. Contracts clears them after two hours without activity, and both lose them whenever the server restarts.
- Code Solver sends your challenge to Anthropic (see below) and doesn't keep it.
AI features
- Jarvin, the chat assistant: your message goes to OpenAI to create an embedding (a numeric summary used to search this site's content). It then goes, with your last few messages, to the model you pick: Anthropic's Claude (the default) or OpenAI's GPT. Voice input uses your browser's built-in speech recognition.
- Code Solver: your challenge goes to Anthropic's Claude.
- Contracts AI tools (analyze, draft, improve): the contract details or text you submit go to OpenAI or Anthropic.
The site doesn't save your messages or the replies, and it doesn't send your name, IP address or any ID along with them. OpenAI and Anthropic handle the text under their own terms, so please don't type anything sensitive.
Who else is involved
- Vercel hosts the site. Like any host, it sees your IP address and browser details when it delivers pages, and keeps short-lived request and error logs. Error logs from this site's code can sometimes include request details, such as an IP address.
- Supabase stores the visit statistics in a database that only the site's server can reach.
- OpenAI and Anthropic process what you send to the AI features.
- jsDelivr and unpkg serve the code playground's editor files, and api.qrserver.com draws the QR code in SignatureFlow's share dialog (it receives the link being shared). Like any site you load files from, they see your IP address.
There are no ad networks, data brokers or social media trackers.
Questions
Email me at m.servan.chiaramonte@gmail.com or message me on LinkedIn (opens in a new tab). Visit records don't include your name or full IP address, so I usually can't tell which ones are yours, but I'll help however I can.
